A fun milestone to document that is often overlooked is a child’s first birthday. They’ve made it all the way around the sun – so celebrate! If they have siblings, you can also turn it into an impropmtu family session.

Sometimes all it takes for a photo to feel more “artsy” is to shift the focus. You can find something in the foreground to focus on, while keeping the subject in the background. Here are examples from weddings we’ve shot. This is one of Samantha’s favorite types of photos to shoot.

It’s well into summer now. Camps all around the country are celebrating with children and activities. What was your favorite camp activity growing up? I’m pretty partial to anything with horses. Maybe you’re more of a swimmer, or rock climber? Rest assured, there are camps out there to meet anyone’s need.

We’ve shot quite a few first birthday celebrations through the years. It’s such a huge milestone, why not document it? Whether it’s a party, or just a fun photoshoot, remember your baby as a baby!

You’re never too old to get married! One of my favorite weddings I’ve shot, was my grandmother-in-law’s! These two skirted around their feelings for years before finally tying the knot. I love how cute these photos are. The bride was walked down the aisle by her sons, and her granddaughter provided the music. The groom arrived at the altar by way of tractor, and it’s how the two of them left the ceremony. The wedding was at the bride’s property, which was a farm.

How special it is when you can have the entire family together in one place! Especially when that family includes multiple generations. We were honored to gather with this family and snap some shots while they were all in one place.

Yes, we travel for work! We were tickled to photograph this baby shower in New York City. While newborn and family shoots are popular, don’t forget about the baby shower! Some baby showers, like this one, gather people from across the country. It can be a precious time for photos.

How special to celebrate one of our repeat client’s growing family! We spent some time together both inside their house, and in their yard. The spring blooms on the trees made for a magical setting.

Wedding season is upon us! Outdoor weddings have the potential to be gorgeous. This one was no exception. The colors were beautiful. And since it was in New England, it wasn’t too hot. We love to shoot in natural light and on location. So, if you’re planning an outdoor summer wedding, consider the time of day for the ceremony, and a location with lots of shade.
